Armchair BEA Day Three

Beyond the Books

I haven't really ventured outside of the typical novel too much. I've read two graphic novels before and I rather enjoyed them and fully intend on buying more. I would really love to get into comics as well. As far as audiobooks go, I would love to find one that I could listen to without getting distracted. I tried a few samples of some audiobooks and I find that some people really drone on and it causes me to tune them out. Any recommendations? What are your favorite alternative forms of reading material?

Beyond the Blog

I dream of one day having friends nearby that share my love of reading and would like to start a weekly book club. Since I don't have that and neither does my friend Grace, we started a book club on Goodreads despite my living in Arizona and her in Australia. Anyone can join us! Other than that, I regularly update my Goodreads profile and try to converse with other bookish folk on Twitter. What bookish stuff do you do outside of blogging? If you don't blog, just what bookish stuff do you do in general? I'd love to hear from you.
Xoxo,
Gabriella

  1. Hi,

I love your t-shirt in your picture. :) Fellow Jurassic Park fangirl! *high five* Have you read the book?

Apart from blogging, I write. I also keep a Book Journal. I have this really cool one with plenty of space to journal my thoughts on a book. Helpful for reviewing later!

Maybe listen to an audiobook while doing something else? I'm the same though, I like something in my hands.

See you around ABEA! Can you believe it's Day 3 already?

    1. Hi! And thank you! I've only read Jurassic Park. I own The Lost World, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I will say I do prefer the boy being the older child in the book and wonder why they didn't have it that way in the movie. Which one is your favorite movie? A book journal sounds like a cool idea! I recently started sticky tabbing parts of books that I have thoughts on, but I keep forgetting to write down said thoughts. It can still be helpful though. Lol. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of ABEA!

  2. I'd also like to get into comics, but I honestly don't know if it will ever happen because of how overwhelming it sounds. I have just one manga series that I'm currently reading, and it's a struggle to keep up with it because of the way it's released frequently in volumes. Comics feel like that on an even bigger scale. I don't know if I could ever keep up with them if I were reading them!

    1. I feel like I also just wouldn't know where to start. Where are Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, and Raj when you need them? Stuart too! Do you watch The Big Bang Theory? I'm on season eight right now.

  3. Twitter is the place for me to talk bookish! I also forgot to mention in my potshow I love to skype with my blogger friends from all over the world. We can't meet in person but we can fangirl via video!
As far as audiobooks go, I really liked If I Stay's audiobook. Really nice.

    1. Skyping is always fun. I actually get to skype with my friend Grace soon to discuss A Court of Mist and Fury. Seriously cannot wait!

  4. Aww haha, I really hope that one day you can start a book club with people who enjoy reading as much as you do! I know in my own community, there aren't many people who are as gung ho about YA as I am. But it's great that we can meet people from the interwebs that are!

    1. I mean I like adult books too. I just don't know many readers IRL as I do online. One day though.

  5. It'd be SO fun to have friends near enough to get together and discuss ALL THE FEELS from our various books. But since we don't, I'm grateful for our sites and Twitter to chat about them in the meantime. :)

    1. I know. I've seen Sasha from abookutopia. hvaing reading parties with her friends and I am so ridiculously jealous. That's my type of party! For sure though, I love to chat about books on twitter and stuff. It's the best to get those feelings out and to be able to bond with other people over them.
