Netflix Book Tag

The Netflix Book Tag!

1. Recently Watched:The last book you finished reading.
The last book I finished reading was Whiskey Words & a Shovel III by R.H. Sin and I loved it. His words have been there for me through my first real and difficult heartbreak and I am very thankful for that.

2. Top Picks: A book/books that have been recommended to you based on book you have previously read.
Because I loved A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas, people are constantly telling me to read her Throne of Glass series. I don't know if I will or not, but if I do it won't be until the entire series is out in paperback.

3. Recently Added: The last book you bought.
The last book I purchased was Whiskey Words & a Shovel III by R.H. Sin. Shocker there. However, it is not my most recently acquired book. Yesterday I was sent a copy of A Million Junes by Emily Henry.

4. Popular on Netflix: Books that everyone knows about (2 you’ve read and 2 you have not read or have no interest in reading).
Let's start with the two that I have read. Wow, I read a lot of buzz books. I'll go with Caraval by Stephanie Garber, which I loved by the way. The second book would be Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. Also a very good book. It's even better than the tv show and I LOVE the tv show. On to the books that I haven't read. I could go with the easy answer which is the last two books in the Harry Potter series because who hasn't heard of or read Harry Potter? ME. But for your sake I won't do that. I haven't read This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab. I do own an ARC of it and it is signed, I just haven't gotten around to it. To be fair, I did start it. I just didn't get far because I had a book with a deadline to read and I never picked it back up. Another book I have yet to read is The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. I own this one as well. So many books, so little time.

5. Comedies: A funny book.
A book that made me laugh a bit more than you'd expect based on the synopsis was The Martian by Andy Weir. If you haven't read it please do. The movie doesn't really do it justice.

6. Dramas: A character who is a drama queen/king.
At first I couldn't think of anybody super fitting off of the top of my head, but being as I'm literally discussing A Court of Wings and Ruin with Grace from The Grace Lucy Review at this exact moment, I'm going to go with Tamlin. If you've read the A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy by Sarah J Maas then you know he is very good at creating drama, overreacting, and generally making an ass of himself. So I hereby crown him Drama King.

7. Animated: A book with cartoons on the cover.
I'm honestly not too sure if any of these count, but I do own a Winnie the Pooh storybook along with several of the Lizzie McGuire books and Charlotte's Web. Which all have at the very least some animation in their adaptations. I will cherish these forever and I hope to pass them on to my future children.

8. Watch it again: A book/book series that you want to re-read.
As weird as it sounds, I want to reread the Twilight series. I want to see if my opinion has changed even though I will always love those books for bringing me back into the reading world. Throughout my life I've fallen in and out of love with reading multiple times and back in 2009 Twilight brought me back and I haven't left.

9. Documentaries: A nonfiction book you’d recommend to everyone.
I don't read a lot of nonfiction because I kind of need a plot to stay interested, but depending on what exactly you're looking for I might recommend you Riding in Cars with Boys by Beverly Donofrio. Depending on your age you may have seen the movie adaptation starring Drew Barrymore. I loved that movie growing up and I did watch it when I was way too young for that sort of movie, but it really stuck with me. This woman's life and how she turned it all around is something I won't forget. If you prefer something lighter, I'd go with Seriously... I'm Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen is so funny and it's filled with stuff that's useful. Just trust me.

10. Action and Adventure: An action packed book.
I feel like City of Bones by Cassandra Clare has a lot of adventure in it. It's been a year and a half since I read it and I have yet to continue the series so no spoilers. But I enjoyed it and it had me hooked to the point where I couldn't put it down. So much was happening and I had to know where everything went. I still do, y'all need to shame me into reading City of Ashes. Where's Emma when you need her?!

11. New Releases: A book that just came out or will be coming out soon that you can’t wait to read.
Branded by Eric Smith came out recently and while I do have my copy ready to go, I have other books I need to finish first. Either way I'm still stoked to read it. A couple books that have not come out just yet that I'm excited for would be The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell, They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera, and There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins.

  1. I love that Twilight brought you back into reading! How cool. I love the Throne of Glass series and actually preferred it over A Court of Thorns and Roses. I think I prefer more action. I will definitely do this tag and will let you know! Happy reading.

  2. This tag combines two of my favorite things! I enjoyed reading your answers. I always enjoy getting to know the people in the wonderful book blogger community better.

I'm new to blogging and book reviewing, and I was wondering if you had any tips for newbie bloggers and book reviewers.

If you have the time, please check out my blog @breenysbooks. I'd love any feedback. Have a wonderful day.

    1. I am fairly new as well, but I would say don't overload yourself. I have a tendency to sign myself up for too much stuff and then I fall into a slump and don't get anything done. So definitely find your balance between work and fun when it comes to your blog. Welcome to the community and thank you for stopping by! If you do the tag, come back and leave me a link. I'd love to see your answers.

    1. I think you'll get to it. I just finished rereading the first one. I'll have to finish a couple of review books before I can reread New Moon. I never realized how much of the book I actually forgot. It's different from the movie and the movie seems to be all I remembered. Like I forgot that Jasper and Rosalie were the Hale twins. It was weird for me, but I really enjoyed it. I hope you do to when you get around to it. Happy reading!
