ARC August

Hello and welcome to my very first post for ARC August 2016! ARC August is an event hosted by Read.Sleep.Repeat where we all try and get through our stack of ARCs. This will be my first time ever doing the event and I am so completely stoked about it! Now let's talk about what I have planned for this month.

How About A TBR?

Well, being the mood reader that I am, I don't really have one! Shocker right? Every single time I set a TBR, I either fall into a deep slump or I just stray from my list. However, I don't want to completely leave you hanging. So I will mention a few books that I am in fact interested in, but am not forcing myself to get to.

Wow, that already feels kind of overwhelming even though I'm not committing to those. Anyway, join me on this adventure of trying to shorten my review pile! Welcome to day two of Armchair BEA, the from home version of Book Expo America which I hope to attend someday. Let's just get straight into today's topics, shall we? What Do Readers Want? What I want as a reader is to be sucked in. I want a story to hold my attention and make me care. That is actually how I rate my books, based on how well they keep my attention. When it comes to events, I would like them to be spread out more. Maybe that's a weird way to say it. What I mean is, change the cities you visit. Don't always do the major ones, some of us can't make it to those. And if you insist on making them so far, can you make them at a reasonable time? Example: Most of the events are a two hour drive from me, but don't begin until 7 PM and on a week night. Let's say I only stay for an hour? I'm still not getting home until after 10 PM if I'm lucky. 2021 Part One Wrap-Up

My decision for 2021 was to split my reading plans into quarters and so far that plan is working. In the first three months of the year I have been able to finish six whole books! I am so proud of myself! I started off the year with a book I already knew that I was going to love, Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer. Needless to say I was not wrong. Reliving the book from Edward's point of view brought new life to a story that I have loved for so long. I would read the whole series from his point of view if I could. I also read a short poetry book called 2 AM Thoughts which was as enjoyable as every poetry book that I have read. I mostly read poetry when I am looking for comfort and it typically works out as planned. However, The Messengers was not as great for me. I can see why people enjoy it for its social commentary, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. Alas, the long awaited return of Sarah J Maas to the beautiful world that she created.
